Operating Schedule


Day: Saturday

Dates: May 22nd through October 16th (22 weeks)

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Hours may be extended length during special area events or at the descretion of HarborMarket Management

Where: 2nd Avenue between 55th and 56th Street in Kenosha HarborPark, is West of the Kenosha Public Museum.

Set-up:

Expected to occur between 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
Take down: 2 p.m., completed by 3:00 p.m.


Vehicles

All vehicles are prohibited on the HarborMarket grounds during the hours of operation except if provided with an In-Stall Parking Permit. A vendor may submit an In-Stall Parking Application. The application must include the purpose for having the vehicle, a picture of the vehicle and the application fee. Approval will be based upon necessity, appearance and space availability. Management reserves the right to reject the application or issue a conditional approval.


Stall Size

*Ten feet wide and fifteen feet deep. (10' x 15')

*The Market management has the discretion to allow expanded stall space.

*The wide represents the front, open to the public.
*The back of the stall is available for merchandise storage.
*Total stall space is 150 square feet.


Tents

*Tents are recommended in order to produce an overall visual effect to the market. A standard 10 feet by 10 feet EZ-UP or equivalent is recommended.
*Tents are required to have white fabric canopies. An exception to the white canopy may be granted by market management but only if the alternative is required a a part of a company logo or trademark.
*The vendor is responsible to purchase and maintain the tent.
*Each vendor is responsible to secure the tent with weights. A minimum of 25 pounds per corner is recommended. If containers containing water are to be used, they must be a sealed.

*HarborMarket Management has a limited number of tents available for rent at $20 per market day; any vendor may rent a tent for a maximum of 3 times per season.

Electricity requirements

Electricity will be available on a very limited basis in our temporary, new location and will be allocated to vendors based on absolute necessity. A fee of $5 per market day or $100 per season must be paid in advance (see appropriate line of the application).


Pets and Animals

*Customer pets are allowed at the market if leashed and under control. Any pets presenting a problem will be required to leave.

*Vendors may not bring their pets to the market.

*The trade of live animals is not permitted.

Health Department Requirements

Food vendors must follow Health Department regulations. Please call the Kenosha County, Division of Health at (262) 605-6700 for further information on Health Department requirements. Sellers of potentially hazardous foods must contact the Division of Health for approval and possible licensing requirements prior to selling of such foods. The Division of Health reserves the right to restrict the sale of particular types of foods or products. Processed food must originate from a licensed establishment.

Potentially hazardous food means any FOOD that requires temperature control because it is in a form capable of supporting the rapid and progressive growth of infectious or toxigenic microorganisms.


Vendor Conduct

*A vendor may not leave the market early, even if sold out.

*A vendor may leave early only under emergency circumstances and all equipment and goods must be moved by hand or your handcart

*Smoking by vendors is not permitted on the HarborMarket grounds.
*Vendors should behave in a courteous manner to other vendors, management officers and the public.
*Annoying behavior, including unnecessary noise, will not be tolerated.
*Vendors are not allowed to play music.
*The running of any gasoline or diesel motors or engines is not permitted.

Parking and Loading

Free public parking is available for vendors in two locations. A marina parking lot is available east of 3rd avenue at the terminus of 58th street. A second are of parking is located est of the Kenosha Public Museum and the Kenosha Civil War Museum. Vendors parking in these tow lots are to park in the center areas or futher east. Vendors with trucks and/ or trailers are to park at the east side of the lots as a courtesy to the museum visitors.

Loading and Unloading

Traffic on 2nd Avenue during the market unloading and loading periods is one way from 56th street north to 54th street. Vehicles are not to enter from the 54th street end.

Vendors will cue along 56th street preferably from the north side of the street facing west. Vendors are to unload and park their vehicles prior to setting up their booth.

Similar to unloading, in order to minimize wait time in cueing, vendors are to have their market materials fully broken down for loading when they move there vehicles in for pickup.

Vendor Discipline/Termination

Vendors must cooperate with the HarborMarket Management and obey all rules. A vendor will be notified verbally and then in writing, stating the problem. Failure to respond to the problem will result in termination of the vendor at HarborMarket, without any refund of rental fees.

Vendor Categories and Descriptions

Agricultural Products (Produce and Plants)
This category includes fresh vegetables, fruits, cut flowers, herbs, nursery and bedding plants grown in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. The HarborMarket promotes and encourages farm direct and sustainable agriculture practices and methods.

Daily booth fee is $25.00; $550.00 for the season - 20% discount = $440 for the season, or 10% discount = $22.50 for the day, if paid on or before March 31.


Art (Not Self-Crafted)
This category is for anyone selling art work that was created by someone else and is considered a dealer or re-seller. Photographs showing artwork must be sent with application.

Daily booth fee is $45.00; $990.00 for the season - 20% discount = $792 for the season, or 10% discount = $40.50 for the day, if paid on or before March 31.


Art (Self-Crafted)
This category may only be used by artists who self-craft all of the items in their booth. If more than one artist's work is displayed, each artist must be present in the booth throughout the day. Types of art work include paintings, sculptures, jewelry, baskets, etc. Photographs showing artwork must be sent with application.

Daily booth fee is $25.00; $550.00 for the season - 20% discount = $440 for the season, or 10% discount = $22.50 for the day, if paid on or before March 31.


Food (Prepared)
This category includes food prepared on-site or in commercial kitchens for immediate consumption or take-out at the market. Food and beverages should be available for breakfast and lunch. Special consideration and assistance will be given to vendors willing to work with local produce vendors. A limited number of vendors will be permitted per processed food type to maximize sales for each vendor.

Daily booth fee is $45.00; $990.00 for the season - 20% discount = $792 for the season, or 10% discount = $40.50 for the day, if paid on or before March 31.



Food (Processed)
This category includes bread, cheese, meat, jams/jellies and other canned goods, honey, baked goods, etc. A limited number of vendors will be permitted per processed food type to maximize sales for each vendor.

Daily booth fee is $25.00; $550.00 for the season - 20% discount = $440 for the season, or 10% discount = $22.50 for the day, if paid on or before March 31.


In-stall Vehicle Parking
Vendors may park their vehicle (with trailer) in the designated parking area at no charge. To request parking of a vehicle (or trailer) in the market area, an In-stall Vehicle Parking application must be submitted and approved. The vehicle must have a purpose and enhance the appearance of the HarborMarket. The applicant must submit a picture of the vehicle. Management reserves the right to reject or issue a conditional approval to any application. The stall can be rented per event.


Miscellaneous
This category is for vendors that do not fit into any other category. The objective must be relevant to the HarborMarket goals. Photographs or a detailed explanation of the product must be sent with application.

Daily booth fee is $45.00; $990.00 for the season - 20% discount = $792 for the season, or 10% discount = $40.50 for the day, if paid on or before March 31.

Charities and Fund Raising

Nonprofit organizations may participate at Kenosha HarborMarket for free. There are additional opportunities for groups who can pay booth fees. All organizations, and their Market day's activities, must be pre-approved by the Market management.

Perishable/Non-Edible Products
This category is for perishable/non-edible products such as handmade soaps, candles and papers. Photographs showing the artwork must be sent with application.

Daily booth fee is $25.00; $555.00 for the season - 20% discount = $440 for the season, or 10% discount = $22.50 for the day, if paid on or before March 31.


Jury Procedures

Food
The Food Jury consists of HarborMarket committee members who may review all Food applications. In addition to the application review, the jury may sample the proposed products, and conduct on-site visits, as applicable.

Art
The Art Jury consists of HarborMarket committee members who will review all Art (Self-Crafted), Art (Not Self-Crafted) and Perishable/Non-Edible Products applications. In addition to the application review, the jury will judge the quality, uniqueness and artistry of the product.

Miscellaneous
The Miscellaneous Jury consists of HarborMarket committee members who will review all Miscellaneous applications. In addition to the application review, the jury will view any materials or meet with the applicant to further understand the type of product being offered. The applicant will be advised of the date, time and location of this review.


Multi-Category Vendors

If a vendor wishes to sell items relating to more than one category in the same stall space, the vendor should fill out both application forms and note on the form that this will be a shared stall. The vendor will pay only one fee, the higher of the two fees. Any restrictions relating to either of the categories (including limitation to dates at the market) will still apply.


Stall Sharing

Agricultural
Sharing stalls is not allowed. Growers can contact eligible vendors and see if they are willing and/or allowed to carry their produce. Each vendor can only carry 25% of produce grown by other agriculturists - Name and Location of the producer must be displayed.

Foods (Processed) and Foods (Prepared)
Sharing stalls is not allowed. Applicants of the Food (Processed) category areresponsible for the required Health Department licensing. They can carry other processed products, as long as these products follow the Health Department requirements.

Art (Self-crafted) and Art (Not Self-Crafted)
Sharing stalls is allowed with approval of the HarborMarket management.

Miscellaneous
Sharing stalls is allowed with approval of the HarborMarket management.


Fees

Fees can be paid with cash, check, money order or credit card. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the: Kenosha Common Markets, Inc.

All fees are due 10 days in advance. An exception is allowed for pre-registered
vendors to make payment the day of the market with an additional $5 fee for each
instance.

Stall rental fees are not refundable.

Application Submittal

Vendor applications should be received at our office by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 10 days prior to the intended participation date. Applications can be mailed to: Kenosha HarborMarket, P.O. Box 580316, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158.

Date Change or Addition

If an approved vendor needs to cancel an approved date or add an additional date, they may select the date change or additional date(s) at least 10 days in advance. They will be notified if the new date is acceptable. Also, they can add additional dates without submitting another full application. Please remember to send fee with the application.

Acceptance/Approval

The vendor will receive a letter if the application cannot be approved. Each vendor is responsible to check the market map on these web pages to verify the location of their stall (the web map is expected to be posted about 2 weeks before each market date).


Absence at the HarborMarket

Once you have been accepted for a specific date at the HarborMarket, you must attend. If you are unable to attend on that date, please notify the HarborMarket management, at (262) 914-1252. No refunds will be issued to vendors that are not present for their approved date and the space may be rented.


Stall Assignment, Set-up and Stall Clean-up

All stalls are assigned to the vendors by the HarborMarket management. Placement is made to provide a colorful and blended appearance at the market. The management will consider the nature of the merchandise sold and assign stalls accordingly. Vendors that have committed to the full season participation will have priority to the same location. At the discretion of management, stall location changes during the season are possible. Stall set-up is between 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and take down is at 2:00 p.m. The public will not be allowed on the HarborMarket grounds during this time. Vendors that show up late or leave early will not be able to use motorvehicles in the market. All vendors are responsible to clean up their stalls and haul away waste before leaving. Vendors are not allowed to use City trash bins or containers. The vendor will be charged for any damage to public or private property.
