Let us celebrate the MarketPlace!

Saturday, June 14 is the soft opening of the new market at Place de Douai and we are planning to surprise the community!

The Harbor MarketPlace committee intends to achieve several goals with the help of local produce growers and cooks. If you don't grow your own vegetable garden, you probably are not aware of what grows in Kenosha and when.

Discover the difference of a fresh lettuce. Fresh lettuce means that the leaves have been picked a few hours before the market day starts. The variety of colors and the crisp texture of each leaf will please your eyes before your taste.

Forget Iceberg lettuce! Keep that "crunchy water" for times when there is nothing else available. It is hard to descibe the difference in taste: you must try to bite into a leaf of fresh lettuce (try the taste without salad dressing). We are confident that you will never look at lettuce in the same way again.

Here is an example of what you can look forward to (short selection of one of the vendors - more or different varieties may be available). Some varieties are only available in late spring - early summer, as the shorter days after June 21st stimulate the growth of seed stalks in lettuce. The leaves lose in flavor, become more bitter as the season progress.
